VALEDICTORY ADDRESS

I have this year, the pleasure and privilege of saying a few words on behalf of my fellow students of this year's graduating class.

We are gathered together tonight at the end of 12 years of toil, not unmixed with a great deal of fun, good fellowship and above all, considerable attainment. It was all very much worthwhile.

When we look back on our struggles through school, I think that now, perhaps for the first time, we realize that in this we were not alone. Our wise councillors, the teachers, were ever helping us, and who knows, perhaps they had most of the headaches. To all of them, I would like to say that we are very grateful.

During all this time we have learned much that will be with us all our lives - how to co-operate one with another - to be tolerant of one another, and above all, a respect and affection for our old school which symbolizes what we know of discipline and order. We have made many friends during this starting phase of our lives and careers whom we will never forget.

This class is particularly fortunate because during its final years, it saw the name of our old school carried across the continent to triumph in the World Famous Music Festival in Holland. In other musical endeavors, notably this year's production of the operetta, "Pirates of Penzance," we have received the highest praise. In athletics, our basketball teams gave a noticeable account of themselves throughout the Interior, while our track and field sports are developing well for the facilities are becoming available for their use.

Looking back over our school life, a long period which one must realize has taken up about three quarters of our life so far, seems all too short. It has had a profound influence on us and will continue to do as we say goodbye for we face the future with confidence, hoping to increase the scholarships and triumphs of this our old K.H.S.
