Fern McConnell Mason (nee Corbin) passed away in the arms of family members at the Ponderosa Lodge at 2:35 am on Sunday Oct 12th, 2014, in Kamloops, B.C., at the age of 82 glorious years. Fern is survived by her daughter Judy, her daughter Terree Mason Blow and son in law Bob Cochrane, grandchildren Jenna, Tanner and Lindy, Macy Blow, and great grandson McKai, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
Fern was predeceased by her seven Corbin siblings William Harold, John Wesley, Eunice, Russell, Merle, James Lester Allen and Arlene.
Fern was born in Kamloops on Jan 25, 1932, did all her schooling in Kamloops, married, moved and lived all across Canada with her husband who was in the Canadian Armed Forces and returned to Kamloops upon his discharge from the DND. Fern worked at Tranquille, Royal Inland Hospital and then as a volunteer for the Kamloops City RCMP Community Policing.
Fern had one main hobby – her family! But did learn "computer" and began re-searching her family genealogy and had gathered a magnitude of information about her family and kept in touch with friends on her own Facebook account. Fern was a generous person, but will be most remembered for her fabulous sense of humour and wit. She was the best grandmother any child could have asked for and experienced. Fern battled hard and was brave during an 18-month challenge with cancer. She will be greatly missed by many and lovingly remembered as Mom, Aunty, Gramma, GMA and the Fernace!
