Neil Sinclair Dalgleish August 5 1933 - May 1, 2022
Neil was born in Kamloops, BC as the third child to Ross and Grace Dalgleish. As a youth, Neil enjoyed the outdoors and was often found at the lakes and hills surrounding Kamloops and family vacations at Shuswap Lake and Tsawwassen Beach. He was an avid skier which became a connection for the whole family and his love of the outdoors was ingrained in his children and grandchildren.
Neil studied the violin in school which led him to meeting a beautiful girl, Frances Dey, who would become his lifelong sweetheart for 64 years. They moved from Kamloops to the Oyama in the late 70s to become orchardists! It was this vocation that finally fulfilled Neil’s gift for hard work and his love of the outdoors. Additionally it gave his children room for their horses and the chance to grow up in the country (and learn how to work!!) The Dalgleish’s were very involved in church activities through the years - from Kelowna Apostollic Church, Agape Force, New Life Fellowship and Evangel. They also did many short term mission trips in many countries around the world including India, Mexico and the Philippines. They moved to Hobson Crescent, Kelowna after selling the orchard in the 90s. Here, Neil spent his hours making home improvements, going picnicking, skiing and hiking with the grandchildren, napping in the backyard and relishing in quiet worship times while gazing at the lake at Sarsons Park.
Neil’s last few years were spent with his devoted wife in West Kelowna at Village at Smith Creek. There is no doubt that the remarkable care provided there sustained him and the family - especially through Covid. Sunday morning May 1, 2022 he went to join the throngs of worshippers praising God in Heaven... just in time for church with Jesus!
