Darrell Rye passed away peacefully at Royal Jubilee Hospital on March 2, 2010. He was 82.
Darrell taught at Kamloops Secondary school from 1954 to 1984. He was well respected by colleagues, parents and students. He inspired many students to follow careers in biology. Amongst his interesting projects was to drill holes into the exterior wall of the biology lab, and establish a colony of bees in a glass enclosed "hive". Bees would return from gathering nectar and students could then observe the" bee dance" which indicted to other bees where to go for nectar.
After retiring from KSS, Darrell lived on Quadra Island. He is survived by his wife Marjorie and son Chris. |
