Gordon Farquharson

Gordon is also in the class of 1948

Gordpn died after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by his love Jane, they married May 17, 1958 and are together again.

Born and raised in Kamloops BC, Gordon tried his hand a variety of work in BC & AB, before finding his career in insurance adjusting, and retiring from ICBC Claims. Settling in Port Moody, BC in 1969, where he remained until hospice.

He was strong and athletic to the end, even playing against the Harlem Globetrotters as a youth. He loved the outdoors, hiking, skiing, camping, fishing and boating. He supported us always, whether driving kids to ski hills, to horse shows (at 4am), or helping teach us how to build or fix things. He is loved and missed by his son Todd, daughter Lorri, and son-in-law/buddy Wayne, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews in BC, AB and UK.

Peter was born on June 11th, 1933 in New Westminster, British Columbia. When he was still a young boy the family later relocated to Kamloops. He was first married in London England in March 1955. He was a Leading Aircraftman with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1953 to 1956 during this time he served for a year at Gros Tenquin, France. He then returned to Canada, where he settled at Ned's Creek Ranch, Pritchard. He remained active in the Air Force serving with the Primary Reserve as an Air Cadet Officer. Peter later worked in the logging industry and retired from Balco Industries. He was a real people person and was always willing to give assistance to anyone who might need it. He was very involved with the RCAF Association 883 Overlander Wing, Royal Canadian Legion, Arthritis Society, the Kamloops Garden Club and Kamloops Paddlewheelers Lions Club until his health prevented him from participating.

Peter loved gardening and could produce beautiful flowers and tomatoes from the smallest patch of earth.

He spent the last two years at Windsor Manor in Kelowna. A special thanks to dear family friend Ruth Husson for always being there when needed, you were a true friend to him.

Len Fowles passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by loving family, on July 13, 2013.

Len was born in Kamloops July 29, 1932 and was one of five children of Jack and Olive Fowles. Alongside sisters Ethel and Doris, he grew up playing basketball and baseball with his brothers Jack and George. Len was a valuable player on the Kamloops Okonots baseball team and had a life-long passion for the sport that carried through to his beloved 'Toronto Blue Jays' and to his playing and coaching with the local senior's team, the 'Coffin Dodgers', in his later years. Len was a respected leader in the school district as an administrator and was an active contributor with the BC Principles Association. He truly enjoyed his fellowship with the Gyro Club, sharing his spirit and service. It is this generosity of spirit that characterized his relationships with family, friends, community and profession.

Len loved his time with family and friends, usually amongst the backdrop of a round of golf, or a BBQ in the neighborhood, in between world travels with Judy and winters in Palm Desert.
Jean Fraser
Jean Milton

Jean Milton (nee Fraser), passed on August 21, 2020.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack Milton, sister Glenys Pritchett, and sister-in-law Ann Boyd. She leaves behind her four children: Sharon Waldern (Trent), Allan Milton (Cheryl), Laurie Baldwin (Doug) and Leann Milton; nine grandchildren: Alison Gregory (Myles), Lindsay Milton, Shyla Waldern, Ian Waldern, Ainsley Shymko (Adam), Alecia Baldwin, Lieren Milton-Wood (Brandon McDivitt), Connor Milton-Wood (Kate Proznick) and Leith Milton-Wood; and five great grandchildren: Keegan, Riley and Dorren Gregory and Jordyn and Brooklyn Shymko. Jean also leaves behind her brother Allan Fraser (Diane) and brother-in-law Bob Boyd, in addition to all her nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jean was a lifelong resident of Kamloops and married Jack Milton in 1954. Over the next ten years their family grew to include four children. Although maintaining a household of four busy children, She always found time to be involved in all our activities throughout the years, even after she went to work for J. Milton Ltd. She could always be found cheering us on at the countless sporting events and other activities. She always encouraged and supported us to work and develop our own unique skills and continued the tradition with all of her grandchildren. She taught us that whatever we committed to, we followed through with and completed. She was sharp with a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and could always be counted on for a laugh. Grandma never missed a thing, she truly did have eyes in the back of her head.

Jean loved spending time at the cabin on Little Shuswap Lake, whether it was a quiet weekend with just her and Jack, a house full of all the kids’ friends or one of the many family reunions. She also enjoyed knitting, creating keepsakes for family members, and in her later years became involved in a wide variety of different crafts which she thoroughly enjoyed. Jean will be remembered most of all for her generosity and delicious family meals (with a few notable failures). Our home and cabin were always open to family and friends whom she embraced, welcomed and ensured never left hungry. Jean was a force to be reckoned with and she leaves behind a void that will never be filled.
