Betty was born just prior to her parents (Stewart and Mildred Haywood-Farmer) purchasing Indian Gardens Ranch, at Savona. She lived all aspects of ranch life there for over 50 years, half of that time with her best friend, partner and husband Robert (Bob) Dalgleish. They retired to Savona in 1983 and then to Kamloops in 2004. On her own, the past few years Betty enjoyed the comfort of the community at Kamloops Seniors Village.
She was enthusiastic in life, from her hearty “halloo” when answering the phone to cheering for sports teams, especially hockey, and in supporting her large extended family in their varied pursuits. We all wished she had documented the stories told by the many ranch hands she fed. She loved local adventures and cherished the many drives she and Dad took upon retirement. She had a great memory; the whole family relied on her recall, especially Dad.
Betty is survived by her children: Allison (Alan Saucier), Donald, Mary Ellen (Steven Pringle) and Janis (Don Mah), 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her brother Frank. She was predeceased in 2013 by her husband Bob; her daughter-in-law Melanie in 2016, and her cat Stanley in 2019.
