- Bob was a member of the UBC eight oared rowing crew which:
- Won the gold medal in the 1954 Canadian Rowing Championship
- Won the gold medal at the British Empire and Commonwealth games 1954 in Vancouver
- Won second Place at the Royal Henley Regatta (England) 1954
- Won the gold medal at the 1956 Canadian Rowing Championship
- Won the Silver medal at the 1956 Melbourne Australia Olympic games
- Won a gold medal at the 1958 Canadian Rowing Championships.
- Won the gold medal at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth games in Cardiff Wales
- Bob, and other members of the UBC rowing crews, was inducted into the British Columbia Spots Hall of fame and into the UBC Sports Hall of Fame.
- Bob is believed to be the First person from Kamloops to win an Olympic Medal
