Jack Buckham (class of 1961), BSc. From Seattle pacific College, received the Kamloops Secondary School Student’s Council 1998 Award for Teaching “Honour, Pride and Respect” while providing outstanding service to athletes and students. In 2000 Jack was selected as the Kamloops Sport Person of the Year.
Jack received these prestigious awards for over three decades of devoted service to students, athletics, his colleagues, community and province.
His accomplishments and service include:
Outstanding teacher at Valleyview and Kamloops Secondary Schools
Outstanding coach of Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, Tennis and Rugby
Success of teams he coached at the local, Okanagan and provincial levels
Devoted service to Athletics through his active involvement in executive positions of athletic organizations including: President of the Phys. Ed. Provincial Specialist Organization, President Okanagan Valley School Athletic Organization, Chairperson of Okanagan AAA Basketball Championships, Member Canada Games Bid Committee, Chairperson of organizing committee for provincial rugby, basketball, and Chairperson, Steering Committee of the Canadian Colleges national Men’s Basketball Championships hosted by the University College of the Cariboo.
